Confusion. sometimes it happens. Not to be confused with overwhelm or chaos in life, rather,
those times when it is just not clear what the next step is.

To get to peace, we must first know the truth. The Bible says in John 8:32 that we WILL know
the truth and it WILL set us free (from confusion).

I must acknowledge that there are times all of us get a bit confused. And it’s important to
know, it’s not so much about we get that way that matters. It’s more about knowing how to find
our way back to truth.

That being said. how do we find our way through the fog to that place where we have clarity?
I will start with John 8:31, in which Jesus admonished the people saying, “If you abide in Me.
you will know the truth. So, one clue is where to take our focus- in Him. But the word “abide”
means more than just to ask about or throw it out as a prayer; definitely start there. It means to
ponder on Him, meditate on Him/His Word. Be intentional with your focus and rather than
momentary, take enough time that you are 100% focused with all your concentration (I tell my
students “whole body is listening”). It takes practice. Our concentration /brain is like a muscle
and the more we work it, the better we get at it.

What/how do we meditate on Him/His word? Sometimes it can simply be noticing and being
aware of his beauty or glory in what we see around us or experience and taking a moment to
pause in that moment with amazement and gratitude. Sometimes, He will visit You-
something will stand out to you to focus your attention on- and take a minute to acknowledge
and contemplate it. For example, sometimes I have this nudge inside of me to just pay
attention to a person or stop and look at the landscape and rather than sluff it off and move
on, I will focus on it a little bit, linger a little while. Then, as I go through my day, I will kind of
have that in the back of my mind in case He decides to add a thought (or information that will
come to me) to that and it will explain why the focus.

Scripture is the same.. I will start reading somewhere in the Word, and I feel like something
stands out or just like I need to read it again, and I will read it more and get it into my spirit and
sometimes I will go look up (Google makes this so easy now) scriptures that have to do with
the same topic or word.

It’s like going on adventure with Him.

So how does this help alleviate confusion?

In Matthew 6:33 it tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to
us. First, it takes our minds from the source of confusion and puts our focus on Him. By doing
this, it breaks us out of the hold that the chaos and confusion have on us so we can think
straight. (Biblically mindfulness is not a new thing.) The promises in the Word are amazing!!! It
says in Isaiah 26:3- Thou wilt keep him in perfect PEACE whose mind is stayed on THEE.

Next, we choose to believe if we focus on Him, He will lead us and guide us into all truth. He
literally is truth (John 14:6) and He knows us better than we know ourselves (Psalm 139). After
all, He created us, on purpose, to be who we are and loves us with an infinite, everlasting
love. In Proverbs 3:5-6 it tells us to trust that God will come through, even if it doesn’t make
sense in our own mind. It says if we trust Him and put our need for clarity into His hands, that
He will make our path straight. It will be a clear path.

I want to point out that he sometimes gives us just what we need to know at the moment and
not always a rundown of the whole path at once. He wants us to have purpose and direction
for our life and at the same time is way more interested in the journey than the destination. He
likes getting to know us and interacting with us. The journey

Allows for this if we let it.

So. it’s up to you. You can struggle, stress, freak out, or remind yourself it might be time to be
still and change the focus while exchanging your sorrow, pain, stress, worry, etc. for His
peace.

We are all in this together! The enemy wants to steal our peace. The enemy is the author of
confusion. God is the author of power, love, sound mind. Dear Lord, please help us receive
and walk in the Mind of Christ, and help us to be still and know You are God and You have us.
We are not alone. We can do this one step at a time, with You.

In Jesus name,
Amen.
Blessings!
